About RSL Active Strava Clubs

RSL Active has created virtual Clubs for Cyclists, Swimmers, Runners and Walkers, and Rowers using the popular Strava App.

Join an RSL Active Strava Club and connect with a like-minded community, share goals and participate in friendly challenges - all while keeping fit!

Our Clubs are open to veterans and their families from all across Australia, so no matter where you are based, you can get involved and check your progress against other members – it is surprisingly motivating!  You don’t need to be an RSL Member to join.

As our Strava Club builds, you can expect to see regular challenges, great prizes, and lots of encouragement to help you hit your goals.

WHY JOIN STRAVA?

Your friends are using it

Chances are many of your friends are already using Strava. Connect with old friends and create healthy competition.

It’s free

The app is available to download on most smartphones. You don’t need any special dedicated hardware, simply download the app, press start and off you go; it uses the GPS data from your phone to track your ride.

It’s a friendly community

You can follow others and offer encouragement and comments which adds a social element to your training. By joining a club like RSL Active you will be a part of a wider cycling/running/walking community.

It'll motivate you

Strava challenges, held every month, are a unique feature and provide the motivation that helps you get outside (on your bike or in to your sneakers) when the weather or motivation might be against you.

Measure your progress and improvements

Strava provides a wealth of tools for tracking your improvements, with features including a training calendar as well as heart rate and power data analysis if you want to go into a lot more detail. You can plan cycling routes using the Route Builder and take advantage of local cycling knowledge by highlighting popular roads and segments.

King of the Mountains

Yes, the reason many people become addicted to Strava is the challenge of being at the top of a leader board on a segment with a KOM (King of the Mountains) or QOM (Queen of the Mountains). A segment is user defined and can be a local hill or a stretch of road between two traffic lights, and a leader board compares your time with that of everyone who has ridden it. Intoxicatingly addictive for many, a turn-off for others.

Become a Local Legend

The Local Legend title goes to the rider who has completed a segment the most times in the last 90 days, so even if you've no chance of actually taking a KOM title you can get some recognition for trying the most! Or being dedicated to your favourite local routes if you want to put a less snarky angle on it
